Age UK Society Lotteries

 

The Charity

Age UK, Tavis House, 1-6 Tavistock Square, London, WC1H 9NB (registered charity in England and Wales: 1128267), wholly owns three subsidiary companies, each of which promotes society lotteries to raise funds that help support different areas of Age UK's work for older people.

 

Lottery Promoters

The Three subsidiary companies, all registered at Tavis House, 1-6 Tavistock Square, London, WC1H 9NB and also known as 'Promoters', are each licensed and regulated by the Gambling Commission (www.gamblingcommission.gov.uk):

  • Age UK Local Programmes Lottery CIC;
    Registered Company No.11335613. Gambling Commission Licence No: 52413. Provides funding for information, advice and related services provided by Age UK and local Age UKs, for older people in the UK.

    In 2019, the society lotteries promoted by Age UK Local Programmes Lottery CIC generated £4,614,107.00, with 7% spent on prizes and 36% spent on generating funds and running the Lotteries, meaning 57% - £2,649,199.87, was generated for Age UK Local Programmes*.

  • Age UK Education and Research Lottery CIC;
    Registered Company No.11372685. Gambling Commission License No. 52417. Provides funding for research activities that advance education in relation to issues affecting older people in the UK.

    The Society Lotteries promoted by Age UK Education and Research Lottery CIC generated £3,131,496, with 7% spent on prizes and 40% spent on generating funds and running the Lotteries, meaning 53% - £1,673,367.84, was generated for Age UK Education and Research *.

  • Age UK Information and Advice Lottery CIC;
    Registered Company No.11335248. Gambling Commission Licence No: 52373. Provides funding for local programmes to assist older people, via the work of local Age UKs.

    The Society Lotteries promoted by Age UK Information and Advice Lottery CIC generated £3,668,323.00 with 16% spent on prizes and 35% spent on generating funds and running the Lotteries, meaning 49% - £1,805,197.02, was generated for Age UK Information and Advice *.

Lottery Schemes

All three subsidiaries promote society lottery draws in two separately branded, society lottery schemes:

  • Age UK Weekly Lottery; and
  • Age UK Tuesday Treat.

Age UK Local Programmes Lottery CIC additionally promotes society lottery draws in a separately branded, society lottery scheme, referred to as:

  • Age UK Raffle.

All proceeds from the Age UK Lottery schemes go to the relevant Promoter and all profits are donated to Age UK.

 

Age UK Weekly Lottery

All society lottery draws are promoted by one of the subsidiary companies in accordance with the Lottery Draw Calendar.

In 2019:

  • Age UK Local Programmes Lottery CIC raised £3,713,665 from ticket sales, with 6% spent on prizes; 34% spent on expenses; and 60% - £2,211,317.29, being used to fund Age UK Local Programmes*;
  • Age UK Education and Research Lottery CIC raised £3,126,106 from ticket sales, with 6% spent on prizes; 40% spent on expenses; and 54% - £1,671,522.84, being used to fund Age UK Education and Research*; and
  • Age UK Information and Advice Lottery CIC raised £3,639,119 from ticket sales, with 16% spent on prizes; 35% spent on expenses; and 49% - £1,793,718.02, being used to fund Age UK Information and Advice*;
  • The likelihood of winning a prize was, on average, 1 in 167.

 

Age UK Raffle

In 2019, Age UK Local Programmes Lottery CIC raised £876,839 from ticket sales, with 4% spent on prizes; 47% spent on expenses; and 49% -£428,459.58, being used to fund Age UK Local Programmes*.

The likelihood of winning a prize was, on average, 1 in 36,504.

 

Age UK Tuesday Treat

All society lottery draws are promoted by one of the subsidiary companies in accordance with the Tuesday Treat Draw Calendar.

In 2019:

  • Age UK Local Programmes Lottery CIC raised £23,603.00 from ticket sales, with 55% spent on prizes; 5% spent on expenses; and 40% - £9,423.00, being used to fund Age UK Local Programmes*;
  • Age UK Education and Research Lottery CIC raised £5,390.00 from ticket sales, with 60% spent on prizes; 6% spent on expenses; and 34% - £1,845.00 being used to fund Age UK Education and Research*; and
  • Age UK Information and Advice Lottery CIC raised £29,204.00 from ticket sales, with 56% spent on prizes; 5% spent on expenses; and 39% - £11,479.00, being used to fund Age UK Information and Advice*; and
  • The likelihood of winning a prize was, on average, 1 in 5.
